Stops rising damp and dries out walls
Guard Hardener® RD is a product for treating humidity in walls, rising damp, efflorescence and surface salts. 
It dries and consolidates friable substrates damaged by intrusion of water and damp. It therefore mitigates problems of rising damp.
Guard Hardener® RD is applied by injection into walls. 
Very dense, Guard Hardener® RD uses water as a vehicle and makes use of it to harden and mineralise to create a waterproof barrier that will prevent any rising damp.

Apply by gravity or with an injections machine.
Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with water.
  • Treatment is by injection in the base of the wall to be treated, 10 cm higher than the ground.
  • Drill 2 staggered rows of holes (Ø15 - 30 mm) not more than 30 cm apart at an angle of 30° to 40° downwards to a depth of 2/3 of the thickness of the wall.
  • For a very thick wall (> 60 cm) the treatment must be applied from both sides.
  • Inject the product into each hole until it comes back out of the hole, then seal with cement containing 3% to 5% Guard Hardener® RD.
  • Make sure that no hole communicates with a cavity, causing running water. In the case of a cavity, plug it with a mixture of cement and product and re-drill after 24 hours.
  • Full effects achieved after drying for several weeks, depending on the composition of the wall.
  • Appearence: Uncoloured.
  • Physical state at 20°C: Liquid.
  • Odour: None.
  • pH: 12 ± 0.5.
  • Boiling point [°C]: 100°C.
  • Density: 1.25 ± 0.01.
  • Solubility in water [vol/vol]: Total.
  • Flash point [°C]: Not applicable.
  • VOCs: < 1 g/l*.
The following values are for guidance only:
  • Treatment by injection against rising damp: ± 2 to 3 litres/meter (for a wall of 20 cm thickness).

  • Keep in a dry place (between 5°C and 30°C).
  • Storage: 24 months following the production date when kept in the original unopened container.
  • For ideal application and effective results, Guard Hardener® RD must be used when the substrate temperature is between 5°C and 30°C.
  • Do not apply in rain or very hot weather. Air temperature between 5°C and 30°C.
  • Do not apply to plaster or fragile materials, organic, metallic or impermeable materials.
  • Product is alkaline. Handle preferably with gloves and goggles. Protect painted surfaces, glass, tiles and light alloys (aluminium, chrome, copper, zinc, etc). Accidental splashes should be rinsed off immediately with water.
  • Do not dilute or mix with another product.
  • Respiratory protection: Under normal conditions of use where adequate ventilation is available, no special respiratory protection equipment is needed.
  • Hand protection: Wear rubber gloves resistant to chemical products.
  • Skin protection: No special protective clothing or skin protection is required under normal conditions of use.
  • Eye protection: If there is a real risk of splashing, wear protective goggles.
  • If swallowed: Do not induce vomiting. Contact a doctor or a specialist.

Physical Propeties/Chemical:
  • Mixture of sodium silicate in an aqueous phase.
Tips and tricks:
  • Guard Hardener® RD can be applied by spray in case of damp friable surfaces (indoor walls, basements...).
  • In this case, apply the product neat in one or two layers (drying time between each layer: 1 hour).
